Chia seeds are black and really tiny. They come from a plant which origins from South America. There are a lot of plantations in Mexico.
Did you know that the word “chia” isn’t the name of the plant where the seeds come from (the plant is named Salvia Hispanica)?
Chia means “strength” in the language of the ancient Mayas and it reveals one of the benefits of chia: provider of energy.
It is amongst the healthies foods on the planet. Why? And how to use it most efficiently?
Here’s a list of top chia benefits and why to include chia in your daily routine!
Chia has an enormous mass of nutrients but just a few calories
These seeds are nutritious and powerful: 30 g of chia contains 11 g of fiber and 4 grams of proteins. They do have 9 g of fat too – but it’s the fat your body loves: Omega 3.
They also contain Manganese, Magnesium, Calcium, Phosphorus, Zinc, Potassium and Vitamins B1, B2 and B3. Great stuff to consume, don’t you think?
This means that you will consume 30 g of chia seeds and bring in only 140 calories plus all the gorgeous vitamins and minerals named above.

Chia has antioxidants almost as much as blueberries and they perserve the Omega 3 from chia seeds so your body can completely use them.

All the carbs in chia seeds are really fibers.
Why do we like this? Because fibers are good for digestion and they keep the level of sugar in blood in normal boundries.
Seeds can apsorb an enormous amount of water and this way they keep you full and slow down the absorption of food in your stomach.
Fibers help your intestines to get rid of bacteria so they are very benefital in this case.
Chia will help you lose weight
Is this true? Yes.
How? Combine it with exercise and healthy diet plan.
Just by eating chia every day you will notice that you eat less. Chia apsorbs a lot of water and they chia seeds expand in your stomach. This reduces your apetite because you feel full. You will reduce your food intake this way and it will help you lose weight.
But chia seeds must be combined with other factors, such as workout.
Chia seeds contain quality proteins
Other than proteins, they contain essential amino acids.
Proteins are a good thing for muscle restoration and is great for people who don’t eat meat and they need proteins from other sources.
Omega-3 fatty acids are chia’s No.1 ingridient
Did you know that Chia has more Omega-3s than salmon? Unfortunately, your body better uses Omegas from fish than from chia.
Nevertheless, your daily intake of chia will increase you Omega-3 in blood for sure.
Chia is awesome for your bones
Calcium, Phosphorus, Magnesium – these are all great bone nutrients and chia has them all.
Chia has more calcium than most dairy products and is a great replacement for people who don’t need dairy but need calcium just as much.
HOW TO ADD CHIA TO YOUR DIET?
This is very easy. You can add it into your oatmeal, yogurt or any similar food.
Since chia seeds apsorb a lot of water they become gel like so you can add them to your smoothies this way.
I take 1/3 cup of chia seeds and mix it into 2 cups of water. I stirr it well and let it rest for 10 minutes. Then I stirr it again and put this “chia gel” into the fridge (it’s good for weeks). The gel isn’t slimy which is great.
I take 2 spoons of this gel every morning, sometimes in yogurt, sometimes without any adition.
I saw the difference in two weeks: I wasn’t hungry for 3-4 hours after chia intake, I had regular BM every day and I feel like I’m doing something positive for my body.
You should try it, surely you will feel the difference as well!
